About Project Merrimack

Helping residents stay informed, get involved, and improve their communities.

Project Merrimack exists to make local engagement easier.

Project Merrimack is a nonprofit organization that builds practical civic infrastructure for Lowell and the Merrimack Valley.

Many of the tools residents rely on are fragmented across websites, social media pages, email lists, and government departments. Important information can be difficult to find, volunteer opportunities are often scattered, and community participation can feel more complicated than it should be.

We develop simple, reliable systems that help residents access information, connect with their communities, and take action on the issues that matter to them.

Mission

To help residents stay informed, get involved, and improve their communities through practical tools and accessible information.

Vision

A Merrimack Valley where every resident can easily access information, participate in community life, and contribute to the health and vitality of their neighborhood.

How We Work

Practical

We build tools that solve real problems and provide clear value to residents.

Accessible

Information should be easy to find, understand, and act upon.

Community-Driven

The best solutions come from listening to residents, nonprofits, businesses, and local institutions.

Sustainable

We prioritize long-term usefulness over short-term complexity, ensuring that the systems we build can grow and evolve with the community.

Current Initiatives

Lowell Volunteer Hub

Connecting residents with volunteer opportunities, nonprofit organizations, and community engagement pathways throughout Lowell and the Merrimack Valley.

Merrimack River CSO Alerts

Providing timely public notifications when Combined Sewer Overflow events may affect local waterways.

Building Better Civic Infrastructure

Strong communities need more than good intentions. They need reliable systems that make it easier for people to participate, stay informed, and work together.

Project Merrimack exists to build those systems.
